Palaeoloxodon namadicus is likely the biggest land mammal to exist. I imagine if they existed today, the space between their tusks would be a pretty sweet place to set up a hammock. Just watch out for that trunk, its a tickler.

The niches were there for dinosaurs to thrive in the Paleocene...but the asteroid took that chance away from them.

But, it opened those same niches to placental mammals, and here we are!
