Surprisingly despite being so different from the original games, SatAM used to be treated like part of the game's canon in Western media. To the point where in the US manual for Sonic CD, Amy was referred to as Princess Sally (Did they honestly think people would fall for that?).

The original games were bright colorful adventures where Sonic had to fight crazy Eggman inventions, SatAM was a dramatic series that was very dark in terms of tone and visuals and sometimes characters would get caught be Robotized.

Been on a Sonic kick since seeing the movie, so I've been rewatching SatAM (I prefer AoSTH but I watch that on a constant basis).

It really hit me that I don't think a show like this could be made today. Not in terms of how dark it was, but more of how it works as an adaptation.

I wish Archie Sonic's reboot had more time to grow. It had the best combination of SatAM and the games's worlds. I mean look at this cover, The Aesthetics are perfect ;v; I Love it! This is the kind of feel I want to try to achieve for Sparks Saga with some IDW elements thrown in
