I love this cuz the movie it's such a big homage to the Golden Age comics, that it even uses two forgotten parts about it:
1. Bruce Wayne being Batman was the plot-twist at the end of his first apparence.
2. His origins was revealed way later, 6 months after the 1st apparence.

My favorite Alan Grant Batman stories/arcs: the Ratcatcher’s first appearance, the incredible Mud Pack saga, the deeply underrated Croc story, and The Last Arkham, which featured the debuts of Mr. Zsasz and Jeremiah Arkham, neither of whom have been better than in this story.

Or at least keep politics balanced. Batman Dark Knight Returns had quite a few political elements to it, particularly with Ronald Regan, but they balanced it out by having a not so favorable view people overly liberal too, particularly the guy who vouched for Joker.

It’s sad to hear that writer Alan Grant passed. I read so many comics by him when I was still relatively new to reading regularly. He co-created a lot of cool Batman villains like Mr. Zsasz and Ventriloquist.
