To put it simply, remove Midna from the game, and the story and gameplay of TP would both change so much, That it wouldn't be the same game at all(Or in the worst case, Link just die at the beginning of the game without Midna)

That is what is comonly refered as a "Deuteragonist"

Midna is as much of the focus of this game, than Link is, if not more, anything and everything that happens in this game is connected to her in some ways, and her own story is what kick out the game as we know it
She's important to both the story, and the gameplay

late to this, but Chin is lowkey the masterpiece sprite in King of Fighters XIII. Individual poses or actions as a gif are great, but the drunken seamlessness between kicks, jumps & tumbles during gameplay is one of the peak achievements of 2D fighters
