Chanterelles in golden clusters grow amongst the leaf mould in our woods There are signs that something has been digging & eating them a squirrel or badger maybe & the few that are left have been damaged by slugs. One day I will get to them first

The floor of the woodland is littered with discarded hazelnuts while up above the squirrels rush this way & that feeding themselves up for cold weather. The ancient coppiced Hazel woods provide five-star habitat for squirrels and hopefully dormice.
