I thought I’d kick off my contributions to #BookIllustrationOfTheDayBirthday2 for @mrjamesmayhew with some wonderful #edwardardizzone Little Tim and the Brave Sea Captain - from a 2nd printing (1936). Beautiful colour reproduction in this ed.
Sunglasses, Lake Lucerne (1936), Summer Day at the Lake, Germany (1935) & Naxos, Greece (1936). Part of the attraction of Ancient Greece was its acceptance of homosexuality. He created a nostalgic vision in sharp contrast to the persecution of gay men & women in Germany.
Inspired by @skitter_leaf's Pokémon TCG Booster Doodles - I decided to draw my favourite Gym Leader Jasmine; based off the Steelix Full Art in Cosmic Eclipse (247/236).

Mario Sironi ‘The Builder’ (1936). I loved this huge painting on paper - a preparatory ‘cartoon’ for a mural - seen at the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, Rome. Sironi was sadly a Fascist, but I still appreciate the bold simplicity of this work. #art #painting #modernart #rome

#BookIllustrationOfTheDay is by Arthur Rackham for Henrik Ibsen's "Peer Gynt" (1936). The famous scene "In the Hall of the Mountain King", immortalised in music by Grieg, depicting Peer and the Norwegian Trolls. A scene very much on my mind for my next book #OnceUponATune

To the revival of OCs from when we were 12, I bring you Tyra's older brother, C.J. Isaac. They are not on speaking terms. C.J. is a MMA master with fierce speed, though he's lost a step from his advanced age (as he's 36). Works as a photographer on the side.

‘Danaë’ by Rembrandt (1636). In Greek mythology, Danaë is the mother of Perseus. Zeus impregnated her in the form of a golden rain.
Although the artist's wife Saskia was the original model for Danaë, Rembrandt later changed the figure's face to that of his mistress Geertje Dircx
