The Type 97 Chi-Ha: the Chi-Ha was the most produced Japanese medium tank of the war. It had the same 57 mm gun as the I-Go, but thicker armour and a higher top speed. It was successful in China, but under-powered compared to western tanks.

The Type 98 Ke-Ni: this light tank was designed to replace the Type 95 Ha-Go. It had thicker armor while keeping the same weight. Only 104 were built as the Imperial Navy had priority on steel for warship production.
