Here's an unfinished #drawing from a class I was part of. The assignment was to take a classical portrait and recreate it using an animal. I chose to use #Rembrandt's "The Laughing Man". Also included an older version with hair.

Rembrandt's painting, 'Christ in the Storm on the Lake of Galilee' Stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston in 1990. Whereabouts unknown. #art #arthistory #Rembrandt 🖼️
All great artists drew a lion or two: Rembrandt's lioness devouring a bird combines careful study with vigorous execution, seen especially in the freely-drawn hindquarters. A nice contrast to Rubens's monumental lions, both studies for paintings (Daniel and Samson) #WorldLionDay
National Galleries Scotland is revising the reception of #Rembrandt's (1606–1669) work in Britain through history with an exhibition, illustrating a difficult start in the seventeenth century, but a great success in the eighteenth. Open until 14 October 2018.

Messed around with Rembrandt's species to sketch out a brother and sister who owns a casino together
Clambering urchin emerges wide-eyed into “real” world (Escaping Criticism 1874, Bank of Spain). Artist Pere Borrell del Caso is maybe reminding critics that art can encompass the real & gritty, not just idealisations. Compare Rembrandt's Girl in a Picture Frame (1641, Warsaw)
Happy Easter from The Rembrandt House Museum!
Today on #EasterSunday, let's take a look at the fourth painting from Rembrandt's #Passion series: The Resurrection, c. 1636-1639 (Alte Pinakothek, München).
Things found as curiosities in my private chambers:

Rembrandt's 'The Storm of the Sea of Galilee' stolen from the Gardner on my direction. I hang it backwards. One of the figures I swear keeps staring at me disapprovingly...
