The Type 1 Chi-He: another improved version of the Chi-Ha, the Chi-He featured a 47 mm high velocity gun, thicker armor and a more powerful engine. 170 were produced and allocated for the defense of the Japanese home islands.

The Type 97 Chi-Ha: the Chi-Ha was the most produced Japanese medium tank of the war. It had the same 57 mm gun as the I-Go, but thicker armour and a higher top speed. It was successful in China, but under-powered compared to western tanks.

The Type 98 Ke-Ni: this light tank was designed to replace the Type 95 Ha-Go. It had thicker armor while keeping the same weight. Only 104 were built as the Imperial Navy had priority on steel for warship production.

The Type 89B I-Go Otsu: the I-Go was a medium tank that served from 1932 to 1942, mostly fighting in the Second Sino-Japanese War. It was armed with a short barreled 57 mm gun. The Otsu variant featured a diesel engine and a better turret.
