Great Auk - Pinguinus impennis- Garefowl - the last known one in the uk was killed in 1840 on st kilda, when 3 men out on one of the stacks convinced themselves that it was a witch and had summoned the storm that held them fast.

Berry Hd 1520-1620. Arrived to catch dramatic 180 deg shift in the wind (SSW-NNE) - doesn't happen often! Very few birds on the clearance: Pomarine Skua juv, 2 Bonxies, Arctic Skua ad and a distant skua sp. This Little Auk was just off the platform but vanished when wind changed.
