Mammalodon colliveri is an extinct baleen whale that measured 3 metres long. Its blunt snout may have helped to suck up organisms from the sea floor.

Today I'm looking at this 3D surface scan of the Miocene baleen Parietobalaena palmeri from the fantastic collection. Not the easiest skull to lift & flip for scanning, but we did it (and many others!) 💪

Janjucetus hunderi is an extinct whale from the Oligocene, 25 million years ago. It lacked a baleen system & instead had sharp teeth for ripping apart prey. At 3.5 metres long, it was about the same size a bottlenose dolphin.
