My second spook of the season is my favorite butcher. I would give anything to be flayed by this hunk
@popopoka_ i will have your skin flayed and your eyes burnt with coal heretic
To me, the tackiness of it is kind of the appeal. But I do wish it was more menacing. I personally like the idea of making them more ghastly and gaunt in manner. I don't like the flayed ornaments the way they are. The skin should be aged and blackened IMO. My idea: https://t.co/z1bvcJfUrA
@OctoberBones Guy de Maupassant's The Horla is an outstanding horror story. I also love "The Flayed Hand," "He," "A Mother of Monsters," and "The Spectre." Years ago, I visited his grave in Montparnasse Cemetery, Paris.

It's pretty early, but I try to have a page or so up every week.
Thanks so much for this~! https://t.co/RHOwkobXnI

He holds a red mirror in one of his hands, in which he sees the truth of men’s hearts, a sacrificial knife in another, with which he flayed his own skin, and a Mist Rattle in his left hands, whose gentle sound announcing the coming of the rains.
This is a devotional image of Xipe Totec, “The Flayed Lord,” also translated as “The Bearer of the Skin.”
