Here’s my ink on paper drawing of a heron beside a busy river. I love herons & how impressive they are in size. Some country people call them cranes but they are a different species.

Herons are impressive birds often seen waiting beside rivers in Ireland. This is my drawing celebrating the heron & a fast flowing river.

Day 12 of Fell behind again, but I'm getting back into it! I love blue herons, I've seen 'em around because I live in their habitat range. One was standing on a neighbor's roof once! They're bigger than you think.

A large azhdarchid with a 5 meter wing span, the first one found in its country, little is known about it since its known form extremely fragmentary remains

Alt: Named after its possible large size, its believed azhdarchids fed in a way similar to modern herons

A Cocoi Heron (Garça Moura). To be clear they don’t normally eat Rhinella scitula (the frog). Because Cocoi herons stay more in the open while Rhinellas stay more in dense forest. But still proud of this one.

New dragon for today! I based this one on green herons, who I think look rather dragon-like. The "almost 4th of July" color scheme was incidental.

The least bittern is one of the smallest herons in the world. These birds nest in large marshes with dense vegetation from southern Canada to northern Argentina.

I was obsessed with drawing birds when I was wee, in particular herons. I loved seeing them standing like little old men, patiently fishing at the edges of rivers.

This heron might be making his home in the new Children’s Theatre Suite at Ninewells Hospital!
