Some comfy Saturday frog painting with impressionism brushes in Krita. Really difficult to control. I ended up smudging everything together to smooth it out a bit, but I feel like that might have been besides the point 🤔

Once the inks are done, I usually let them dry overnight to avoid any smudging before I head on to colours.That’s not necessarily crucial, just playing it safe.
Anyway, I use Copic markers to colour, they’re expensive at first but the refills can make them go pretty far.

Hello, I had a question--I tried your wonderful smudge tutorial a while ago, but recently when smudging clouds, a dark color now emerges from heavy smudges. Have you ever encountered this problem? Any advice? I haven't altered the brushes at all beyond your guide.

A tip.. use natural media brushes like the default 'Soft Pastel', and blend with a fingerprint brush for smudging by touch (I use brushes from MattyB on https://t.co/z9yVTmRk63) to achieve some nice texture!

I do a LOT in the rough stages and it still looks terrible, because this is the base of the final painting. Then I did a separate layer of smudging for my warp effect; I penciled a rough outline of where smoke should go, then smudged it around (sample all layers).
