You can see the eyes very subtly protrude in the Returns games, indicating that they are 2 connected eyes.
Also you can see Diddy occasionally close 1 singular eyelid.

I want Dark Sonic to be explored more outside of "oh, edgy" - like maybe being a distorted mirror of Super Sonic?
