Comics Worldwide: Germany (pt.1). Anke Feuchtenberger is a German artist and cartoonist. She studied at the Kunsthochschule (art school) Berlin. Since 1997, she has held a professorship for drawing at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.
On this day in 1797, Mary Shelley was born. She changed the world with her literature, and she is one of the authors who changed my life. May her legacy continue to galvanize us all.

Writing about mourning is so emotionally draining. This was Ann Frankland Lewis' watercolour for 1797, the year her husband died. Ann had lost her elder daughter only four years previously, and would go on to lose her younger daughter (possibly depicted) in 1810.
