Various layout drafts. I wanted a Klonoa/Kirby 64/Pandemonium look, albeit in 2D with NES palette. The original style of the black background appeals to me, so iterating upon it and finding a compromise between 'detail' and 'void to encourage imagination' was difficult

wait we're rly getting into lines. I think ema's aa4 lines r subtly less appealing to me bc the aa4 lineart tends 2 be uniformly thin in lighter areas (see apollo) but have the beautiful weight variation aai's sprites consistently have in darker areas (klav's look REALLY good)
