Hard disagree. Modern Sonic is a lot more expressive, due to being more simplified, it's just that he's animated poorly in the games. Look at the IDW comics or the Tyson Hesse shorts though, and he's expressive as heck.

I love Toei and Hesse's Sonic. They're simple, they're radical... this is a little guy you can trust to step up and wreck the bad guy. And then chillax with afterwards. This is the Sonic I know and grew up with.
