In Super Mario World, if Mario has 99 lives and exits a level on the same frame he is touching a 1-Up Mushroom, his life counter on the overworld will indicate that he has "B0" lives. Upon entering another level, the lives display as 99 again.

The new starters will have to grow on me but the region looks really open and rich which is what i kind of wished for 👁👁

Obviously this isnt the final look but i really hope they update the overworld animations. Ever since sun & moon they've looked really robotic

Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan released in North America on this date in 2013. The first title in the series on 3DS, it featured a navigable overworld and an orchestrated soundtrack.

One more thing while I'm nerding about Zelda... this is one of my fave pieces of official art. A thing I SUPER want out future Zelda is for dungeon gameplay that evokes this atmosphere. Take what BotW did for overworld exploration and apply it to individual enclosed dungeons.

Character portraits! I've been working heavily on maps, fancier textboxes, and cutscenes, so I've had to make a couple different sprites of this character. My favorite is the tiny one, it flashes purple to indicate where the player is in the overworld.

First attempt at a forward facing walk animation with my 64 x 64 overworld sprite. I'm not an animation expert, so if anyone has any advice they could give i'd appreciate it! :)
