"The Bosphorus on Christmas Day was particularly beautiful to us, unused now to see outward signs of a Christian people. The almost innumerable European ships were gaily dressed with flags and pennants, which fluttered in the brilliant sunshine.”

Snow babies were popular on #Christmas cards in the early C20th. Created in Germany as cake decorations, their popularity spread due to the belief that the North Pole was reached in 1909. It is now known the expedition ended up about 60 miles away. #FairyTaleTuesday #Edwardian

#MuseumsUnlocked #Parthenon The brutal dismemberment of Parthenon by Lord Elgin's men - commencing in 1801 - was captured by the English painter Edward Dodwell. The use of saws to hack through large sections of the Panathenaic frieze also caused structural damage @MuseumsUnlocked
Just read volume 1 of the Chris Yost Scarlet Spider Series from 2012. I'm enjoying it! Kaine's Journey from villain to hero is very interesting, and Yost makes the supporting cast super compelling and interesting. Also Stegman and Edward's on Art is an instant recommend👍
