Johanna Herolt (1668-1723): Germanic botanical artist born into a prominent family of Science & Art. In 1691, she moved to Amsterdam, where she set up a studio painting flowers & botanical subjects. In 1711, she moved to Surinam; paintings various flora there.

Sarah Anne Drake (1803-1857): English botanical illustrator. She acquired the post of governess in the family of John Lindley (1799-1865); English scientist. She became his principal botanical illustrator, as he recognised and appreciated her intelligence and artistic skills.
