@elbowrocket i'd describe is as how well y knowur subj., if you know it decently well, you brain can "fill in" the information it needs to process and produce something, vs if you dont and arent using references, not so much.

LOST: Greatest Hits was a card game I worked on with a publisher from 2018-2020.
I created 100+ fully illustrated cards/assets, and spent hundreds of hours on research/reference.
The game never released, and a lot of time was lost, but sharing the art weekly might be healing.
