Yes, it is that much bigger than it's modern variant. A lot of the research and development of the Tech Handgun was sizing it downwards, which sacrificed the stability the original had.

Raimi Could've easily go for an "accurate" look. But he chose a techie armor design.(only adding an expressive mask)
& Even the Glidder being a more sophisticated tech piece, than the one frm comics. (Which makes sense for a Militar corp like Oscorp)
