As of right now, Crossfire's also got 7 planets (which includes a rogue and dwarf) and a moon, all of which have almost totally fleshed out environments/species. Speaking of species, there are 27 right now (many of which are "background" species). Bits and pieces of refs:

Starting off with spear and the man in his season 2 “vision. Although they come from different environments. The fact that we saw a red headed man being killed in coven of the dammed leads me to believe that humans were stranded in the “savage lands for lack of a better term”

I use them all the time for my space environments! The trick I tend to use is to use something else along with the gradient. Like a scratchy effect in the darker area or try to shade the character a bit or something like that. It can be an easy timesaver lol.
