I heard mention of giving the boys of X Dive summer outfits so here's my take on X. He's got a wig to cover up his head crystal, he's removed his chest and torso armour, and he's spray painted his limbs to a skin tone. Plus trunks! 🐇

@HyperchaotixFox Compared to other Shonen of the 80s-90s, Dragon Ball was way more lighthearted and fun compared to Fist of the North Star, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Saint Seiya. One Piece and Naruto followed in Dragon Ball’s Footsteps.
The Tone matured but the fun still remained.
@SashaRJones I adore pink, but apparently I'm afraid to let it exist in my work. I make it on my palette and then quickly neutralize it and use it as another earth-tone because it was "too much".

@HyperchaotixFox Not only Ghibli Movies, but Dragon Ball was also a huge inspiration on Sonic, both in the tone of stories and the wacky world.
Dragon Ball’s world is a fantastical Earth, filled with gorgeous aesthetics and vistas and Futuristic Technology, similar to Sonic.

some final notes... atmospheric lighting will greatly affect not just the color palette you're using but the overall mood of the piece. i intentionally looked for less saturated and muted colors, and the cool blue tone is a reflection of the colors of the wall in the background.

@jc_stephan This is one of many excellent captures using the quality of dark skin tones against the hues of the backdrop. The sheer mesmerizing of the beauty in female form brings joy with every line & every tone.
We should have more dark skinned characters look this good today.

u may wanna use colours that help to amplify the desperateness the heroes are feeling
(Eg make mineta’s bg bluish instead and momo’s panel more warm to fit in with the rest)
