Watson and the Shark, John S Copley (1778)

A young cabin boy (Brook Watson) was attacked by a shark while swimming in Havana harbor. He was saved, but lost his leg. He later grew up to be Lord Mayor of London. The painting created buzz by being so grisly (Colonial JAWS!)
