Interestingly, one of the reasons Jagex pushed back the M&S rework (from 2016) was because players wanted Mining shafts.
There's also this cool concept art for M&S Rework 'Dragonkin' equipment (shown at RuneFest quite a few years ago).
Some scrapped Mining & Smithing ideas from earlier rework proposals included:

One of the main differences is speed, Gone from a week of breaking stuff and very unoptimized to making it way more efficiently in an evening

In my spare time (my what?!) I'm reworking an old art test. A demon hunter, and as always I had to do it my way and overcomplicate it :P My idea was that he defeated a demon and used its body parts as armor/to tap into its power and it has (no surprises there) gone wrong! :P
