I did some research on Kisume for personal headcanon reasons, and apparently she's a Tsurube-otoshi, a yokai which hunts animals and people by dropping down from trees and eating them.

Also Tsurube-otoshi translates to 'falling well-bucket'

This sure makes a lot of sense now
