1915年のこの日、フランスの博物学者ジャン＝アンリ・ファーブルが91歳で亡くなった。高校で物理を教えながら博物学の博士号を取得、植物や昆虫の研究で高い評価を得た。教職を退いた後、55歳から生涯をかけて『昆虫記』を執筆した。
