Over 30years from 1970 I worked & travelled throughout Pacific Region & PNG. I did lots of sketches where emotive qualities that shaped my initial perceptions became vehicles for experiments in colour, form & texture.

For those interested, 3D nerds & all. Heres a quick breakdown of the cake I baked.

This is a low poly, game-ready version of the model I showed earlier. A little over 1500 tris. Can be lower poly if I optimize it. Wireframe, mesh & shadeless texture.

This gives me a mask where shadowed parts are black and non shadowed parts are white. From there I piped the node into shadergraph, used a couple of invert color nodes to mask things correctly, and added it over the regular lighting node and texture.

For my shader, I use the tangent node with the UV map as the controller, then a fresnel node. It gives me a horizontal line (UV-wise) that I multiply with my hair texture.
