Its a thing I tell most of my beginner artist friends, but I thought I'll tell that again!

Aside from basic tips as anatomy etc., a good idea is coloring your lineart!
Unless you're doing stylized art, having lineart 100% black will often make colors seem kinda flat. 1/2

while rewatching a clip from the 3rd pokemon movie, i noticed they animated quagsire with lighter tips on its fingers and toes. i checked the sprites to see if it was always like this, & i think that mistake came from the 1st sprites picturing light reflecting off of its skin.
