Another stand-out Shounen romance with male MC for me is Kurenai Ouji; 100% honorary Shoujo especially w/ how the story & romance plays out. It's about a demon prince that descends to the human world to take human souls but ended up falling in love w/ a mysterious human girl.

How is it debatable? Tomboys are girls who have boyish personalities but still have the cute charm point of a girl. That fits Makoto perfectly.
She has a whole arc where she learns that she can be both sides of the coin: a cool, ikemen idol and a cute, bishoujo idol.
