We’re returning to France today with Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot’s ‘Distant View of Corbeil from behind the trees: Morning’. Corot was a pivotal figure in landscape painting and his work influenced the Impressionists and Glasgow Boys.

By 1577 El Greco had moved to Spain. It’s likely that his reported arguments with both artists & patrons led him to seek his fortune in Madrid & Toledo. Lady (1577-80), Allegory (1577-9) & St Sebastian (1577-8). Some have questioned the Lady Portrait which is in Glasgow.
