We’re returning to France today with Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot’s ‘Distant View of Corbeil from behind the trees: Morning’. Corot was a pivotal figure in landscape painting and his work influenced the Impressionists and Glasgow Boys.

This specimen from The Hunterian collection is the first example of Goliath beetle ever recorded. As one of the largest beetles known at the time, it was one of the earliest and most significant additions to Hunter’s insect cabinet!
