Experimenting more with low-resolution high-cutn prompts. Using studio ghibli's art style makes a lot of bottle-like structures show up for reasons I can't explain.

The Nest (1987) - Killer roaches infest a seaside town. Mildly entertaining, with some weird tonal shifts. This would be good Dark Corners material.

The Monolith Monsters (1957) - Calling crystalline structures from space "monsters" is a bit of a stretch. Well made, but dull.

One of the rules I established in Kaiju Dayz was that Monsters would never have large versions of regular objects. Large structures fill roles such as cooling towers as cups, buildings used as mirrors/seats, helicopters for haircuts, etc.

Creature Comparative Anatomy

One thing that made creature anatomy a lot easier to understand when I was starting out, was learning how similar a lot of the internal structures were. Just largely in different positions and proportions

Well, I tried some more aggressive acceleration structures: pre-building tables for the distance function and normals at every pixel.

I got about a 3x speedup.
But the overall quality of the light rending is much lower.

Lesson? Sub pixels are important.
