The Ebstorf Map is an example of a mappa mundi (a Medieval European map of the world) [13th cent.]. The map was found in a convent in Ebstorf, in northern Germany, in 1843. It was a very large map, painted on 30 goatskins sewn together.

Featured this week: Bestiary of Anne Walsh tiles. From left: dog, aspidochelone, pelican and kingfisher, bonnacon. The bonnacon's horns are curved back, so useless for fighting. It saves itself by emitting a projective of dung that scorchers pursuers as a sort of fire.
