I thought the barbarians looked a little 'odd' compared to other C64 fighting games, but I couldn't quite put my finger on why. Not until Zzap!64 pointed out that you could connect the pins at the back to try to reset, and the figures would stay frozen on screen. Ah! Not sprites!
