3. Drakengard (PS2) by Yoko Taro. The gameplay is terrible and at the beginning looks a bad copy of fantasy games. But then, everything you know get washed away. Crazy and really mature plot, with dark main characters including a children cannibal.

3. It was hard to choose this but I think 358/2 Days falls closest to this requirement. From gameplay perspective the game was quite awful but I remember liking the story so I kept playing. I was almost 10 years younger back then though so IDK how I would enjoy the game nowadays.

2. I'm not a person who usually has a favorite over the all others but choosing Brigitte might seem like a pretty weird choice. As a character she's not all that deep, I know, but I really enjoy her nonetheless (not from gameplay perspective though). And her Swedish sounds sexy!

Just played a game called Dungeon Drafters. I'm fresh off playing Tangledeep so I immediately gravitated to this one. Actual gameplay reminds me of Into the breach which took me by surprise. Lots of the moves plays more to movement rather than relying on raw damage.

Recently got back into Pillars of Eternity! really out did themselves with creating an immersive RPG world with great character choices and gameplay! I just ran into a scene that reminded me of a particular moment from Mass Effect 2 involving a certain reporter!

The Stalker games. I still play them and I'm trying to get my buddies to play them, but they come off as too old and it's hard to sell the atmosphere and Gameplay without actually getting someone to play them. Then there's all the modding you gotta do.

The weirdo duo of are "Back in the Groove" without a doubt, but whether the game's unique and quirky sense of humor and somewhat slow-moving gameplay will appeal to you is a fair question, especially lacking nostalgia for the original.
