Contrast isn't the only way to separate elements in your image, it's just probably the most basic. There are other elements, like color saturation, to make certain things pop out and certain things recede. Like @MadyGComics said in a recent comment, it's about color relationships

Just realized I’ve never posted my Aligned Starscream gijinkas. The first is the original design using only TFP, were as the second is a younger version that uses elements from all parts of the continuity. Including RID2015 and WFC/FOC. I’m quite proud of them. :>
I planned on doing the scene like the snark's one, with elements from the forest of Episode 2. But it was too unbalanced and clutered so I scrapped the idea.
Maybe they'll find some use one day if I do a full scene from the last chapter.

It did good job easing the reader into series without a overwhelming bunch of jargon like a lot of early starts do. Its not until 2nd arc which would add mystery thriller elements that Re0 is now known for to its mixture, but when it did I knew spring season had its dark horse
