This is how I make my art's outline more soft! Look closely. Instead of all black outlines, I use a clipping layer onto the outline layer and paint over each part's outlines with a color that's similar but a bit darker than the fill color! It makes it look more soft and polished!

15/18 as he begins to strike his iconic taunt pose, look at how the details drop out. There are barely any outlines in this frame! Just blocks of solid color! But they're so SCULPTURAL. You don't feel like you're missing any information!
