I semi-traced my original 2017 concept art of her younger version (seen below before I added a hat to her later) and pretty much worked from there, fixing a few things (proportion + adding details), and did this on a much higher scale. Kind of like a remastered version.

Even just starting the background & water, it's already leagues better than the original. Biggest painting advice my professor was "let your shadows breathe". I can't believe just how -black- the original was. Like, 0 out of 255 on the value scale.
