Crystal balls & Aztec mirrors were used for scrying. During the Victorian era from 1837-1901 Crystallomancy was popular. Crystal gazing worked best when the Sun was at its most northern decline. The Crystal ball would become cloudy right before a vision.

Portrait now has both eyes, (no more pirate!)

Trying to do face with strongly side angled light & shadows from late sun, but not loving result. Deep shadows on right got overworked/muddy.

Still trying to decide on background (or not)
