Belgian historic naval comic series begun in 1976, like a Horatio Hornblower who takes a dark path. There are 7 volumes, ending in 1996. Vance died in 2018 after a battle with Parkinson's.

This is a 30"×32" oil painting I did for someone a while back that is based on Ivan Aivozoski's painting Battle of Cesme at Night.
The reflected light on the clouds and water was so much fun to paint.
