Richard Williams passed recently...
He will be remembered for all time as not only an avid creator of some of animation's first crowned characters,
But also of the style and principles that will surely be used in animation until the end of time.
Sad to learn of the passing of Richard Williams (1933-2019) today. His work on ROGER RABBIT made me fall in love with animation, his book THE ANIMATOR’S SURVIVAL KIT made me understand it.
It’s so sad to hear Richard Williams passed away today, he was and always will be a great inspiration to animators everywhere. He may be gone but he will always live on through his work , Rest In Peace @RWAnimator

Everyone is praising Roger Rabbit, while I'm here enjoying "The Thief and the Cobbler" moreso. It's a real shame that Mr. Williams' magnum opus was never treated with the respect it deserved for all the work he put into it. At least we have the Recobbled Cut. #RIPRichardWilliams
So sad to hear about the passing of the legendary Richard Williams. Such an inspiration in his work, passion, and constant giving back of knowledge. I take solace knowing his work will be teaching and inspiring countless animators for generations to come.

The animators survival kit was what caused animation principles to “click” for me for the first time. I wouldn’t be the artist I am today without it. I can not express my gratitude enough. Rest In Peace Richard Williams.

Richard Williams was a master of his craft. His work on Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and The Thief and the Cobbler are phenomenal examples of what animation can be. Thank you, Richard, for all of your work and for passing down your knowledge in The Animator's Survival Kit.

I am deeply saddened to learn about the passing of animation legend Richard Williams. His understanding of movement and illusion is what made Who Framed Roger Rabbit possible. His works remain as some of the best examples of brilliant animation.
