In Paper Mario, the main hall of Tubba Blubba's Castle has an ornate ceiling (top) that can never be seen during gameplay, as all in-game scenes such as passing the upper corridor (bottom left) and the castle collapse (bottom right) have the in-game camera crop out the ceiling.

I haven't played any of these, but I see them brought up pretty often. They're all older VN's, which means that they'll contain no gameplay and probably little in the way of branching paths, but they're worth looking into

Death Mark (2018)

More horror than DR/ZE, but gameplay features investigation and puzzle-solving segments. Also includes a cast of very colorful characters who are very mortal and dependent on certain decisions you make. More straightforward, but a very solid horror experience

Described as a "death game adventure", it's another that follows the formula more literally. Less gameplay than DR/ZE, but the aesthetic and atmosphere are really similar, with a cast of pretty memorable characters.
