I almost never do Lineart anymore, I just slightly clean up the original sketch and sometimes render it. (All of these are there original sketch lines)

I feel like you can fix the "muddy" feel with different colored lineart

black lineart makes it bad to look at
"USUALLY"
use it right, and it makes your artwork looks gritty like 90s OVAs

I base all my art around the outfit and hairstyle I spend an embarrassingly large amount of time choosing, but also do my lineart with a crunchy pen in dark green and then go over it with colours.
