Here's another "guide" I made myself for this way of separating body parts.

The key is going for big shapes that resembles body parts as a whole, you can worry about muscle details later.

Also always keep in mind that the body is a 3 dimensional object!

I originally just felt I wanted to make a coyote character. Then as they grew they I added more things. Like the characteristic eyebrows (based on my dad's fluffy brows irl), added a retro theme with things like high-waisted pants/button-up shirts.
