12. Fantastic Four vs. X-Men 1-4. Claremont and Bogdanove doing Fantastic Four by way of X-Men means every character gets put through the wringer and broken down to their emotional core so they can be built back up. Really confident storytelling, heartbreaking AND lots of fun.
Claremont didn’t get the chance to complete his vision for the character (departing Marvel midway through an arc that featured David), but he laid the groundwork for a deeply unconventional character that later authors could build upon in both comics and television. 6/6
10. Kill the Beyonder (Uncanny 202-203) Claremont and JRJR aren't particularly known for "cosmic" but they GO FOR IT here. Kitty uses Illyana's Soul Sword, and Rachel mindlinks with every life form in the entire universe to beat some dude in a tracksuit. Big weird cosmic comics.

4. Two Girls Out to Have Fun (Uncanny 189) Rachel and Magma go on a date ❤️. Leialoha's blocky inks are perfect for JRJR's blocky shapes and I wish they had done more work together. Claremont predicts 9/11 in this one. Great forgotten done-in-one issue.
