Highly recommend the OVA Dragon's Heaven if you're unfamiliar, as well as the comic by Makoto Kobayashi. Really gorgeous background art, and features a lot more of Moebius's signature design elements that aren't often featured in animation, particularly his distinctive hatching.

I'm using Ambient Occlussion to render the cross-hatching side of the material, it doesnt work perfectly with low poly models tho. I could probably use vertex colors instead of ao to it only shows the cross hatching where i want, but this'll do for now
