(2/2) I use the flashback here to establish a character's familial relationship- something that's heavily affected his personality- but it's something he'd never reveal verbally to anyone, and since his parents are dead, it's impossible to show it in the plot.

Looking back on Pixar's scrapped film Newt, at times I do wonder wether or not it would've been better than Rio which had an identical plot. I do really like Rio, but it's curious to think how Newt would've turned out.
